I enjoy this author, I enjoy learning while reading and she writes about interesting things. However, I am disappointed to find politics rearing its ugly head in this latest book. I am 75% thru the book and while I would never call her books page turners or thrillers, they do hold your attention.What I find super annoying is her comments on Brexit and the US election.
Here is a character who spent her working life as a college professor in the ivory tower where real life does not intrude. How would she know how it feels to be governed by faceless bureaucrats in Brussels in danger of loosing your own country?
She has retired and living on her generous pension and now travels around the world to Paris, Berkley, CA etc. all expenses paid and in addition getting a fee for giving a 30 min. paper with several others to approx. 20 people. I read this and wonder how much money colleges and universities spend on cosy little conferences like this while students are going into debt for 20 to 30 years to get a degree with no guarantee of a job.
I don't think she is in a position to judge who the real people of the US pick to fight for them.

I love the Samantha Duncan mysteries. The stories are a quick read and I always learn something knew about art and history. Thank you for writing such wonderful stories.
Samantha does it again, quietly and efficiently. I lobe this series, and appreciate how the characters grow and expand. I love learning new information from her Papers. It too bad that does not include this author, or her husband PJ in my recommendations. I must do a search for their new releases.
This book was a compilation of conversations without much of a plot. Wasted my money.

I came to the chapter that began lecturing on liberal feminist
views & disparaging the President many of your conservative readers voted for and still support. I read to be entertained, not lectured to on issues on which I completely disagree! I purchased 20 also and will be getting a refund! Too bad!
